Interview With Author Roaleey Ryan
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hey…I’m Roaleey Ryan from Mumbai (India). A mainstream Bollywood actress and now a Self-published Author. Honestly, I have written a million books which never saw past the first chapter, but finally, I pursued it diligently during the lockdown.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Hot Mess #af is my debut novel. I started writing this book on Wattpad during the lockdown and it gained some eyeballs. That’s when I decided to pull it from there and complete the book.
Romance inspires my writing.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love listening to music or have a glass of wine when I have writers block. Which is quite often.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Growing up- The famous five, Nancy Drew and sometimes RL Stine.
Pre teenage years- Sweet Valley
Teenage years & counting- Mills and Boon. Jackie Collins. Sidney Sheldon.
What are you working on now?
After I finish the herculean task of marketing, I hope to get down to start A Hot Mess sequel. And also finish my novel Windy and Luke.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning. Still in the process of finding out what works and what doesn’t. I’m too raw and new in this field to be mentioning someone or something a 100%.
But, having all your socials up and running is something one cannot avoid.
I heart booktok is a major thing now. Unfortunately, India has banned TikTok. SO, there goes my booktok.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
One new author to the other- Keep writing. And after you complete your book, promote the hell out of it. I haven’t left my corner since the day my book released. I know it sounds daunting and I was petrified before I hit the Live button, BUT let me tell you something, the day my book released I made it to Amazon Bestseller #4 in Contemporary fiction, #23 in Women’s Contemporary romance, and #29 in Romance.
So, if this could happen for me. I know it will happen for you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Hard work always pays off.
What are you reading now?
Google and multiple author blogs.
What’s next for you as a writer?
A Hot Mess (Sequel)
Windy and Luke
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Fifty shades of Grey trilogy.
