Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Colonel Robert Adams, MD, MBA, is the author of three non-fiction books.
He served fourteen years in the Navy (12 as a SEAL) and eighteen years in the Army. A third-generation Naval Academy graduate, he changed services to attend medical school on an Army scholarship. He applied his analytical skills to look back at the men who shivered and struggled through Hell Week together. He brings decades of insight, learned caring for others in combat and peacetime, to an insightful analysis of why the men of his BUD/S Class 81 achieved the improbable.

Swords and Saints – a Doctor’s Journey
His next book shares exact transcriptions of Civil War letters by Ned Barden to his wife Sara – (his great-great-grandparents) while Corporal Barden was with the 7th Connecticut Infantry Regiment as a scribe on GEN Grant’s staff. You can see the real war through a Union Corporal’s eyes as he survives battles, diseases, heat, and poverty while writing the orders to send others to their deaths. A Legacy of Service
After serving 18 years in the Navy, the author resigned his position as a SEAL Commander (0-5) to begin again as an Army Second Lieutenant (O-1) at Wake Forest Medical School on an Army scholarship. An Army residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, was followed by 3 1/2 years as the DELTA Force Command Surgeon and wartime service with the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq.
After the military, he built a thriving private practice in North Carolina, where his practice earned numerous awards for clinical excellence. He continues to serve his patients across the entire state via telemedicine while working with the Veterans Administration, helping veterans obtain earned benefits.

My Dear Sara: Civil War Letters 1861-1865
Follow the compelling story of Corporal Edwin J. Barden (Ned) as he writes heartfelt letters to his beloved Sara during his service in the Union Army from 1861 to 1865. These letters, documenting the trials and triumphs of army life, provide a vivid and intimate portrait of the Civil War era. Through Ned’s eyes, he witnesses the challenges faced by soldiers, the camaraderie forged in battle, and the enduring love that sustained him and Sara through tumultuous times. This collection offers a captivating glimpse into a soldier’s life and a love story that transcends war.
