Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Space.Man is my first full length book I have written and attempted to publish.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Space.Man is my latest book. It was inspired first off by my interest in space travel and science fiction, but secondly, my life spent working for the military and various government agencies. The idea for the book came from conversations with my son about science and space coupled with how silly everything generally is when dealing with the government and office politics.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so. I sometimes consult with a pretend talking stuffed monkey, but he’s generally not helpful.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Definitely the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series; Kurt Vonnegut; Philip K. Dick; Ernest Cline; Jonathan Lethem; but mostly movies and TV from my childhood.
What are you working on now?
A young adult series that involves science, mystery, and humor. Goonies meet the Davinci Code but way less series and more fart jokes.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’m a new author too, but my advice is the same was what everyone told me. Start writing and don’t stop. Your first draft might be terrible, but it’s better than anything you didn’t write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do something everyday that moves you closer towards your goals. Every “overnight success” includes a back story of years of hard work.
What are you reading now?
Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
