Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my debut published fiction, I’m currently in the process of writing the sequel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Time to Deceive, it’s cross-genre and has an intriguing plot, jam-packed with exciting twists and turns.
I love history and science fiction, it brings these two genres together wonderfully.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really but when the words are flowing I can write into the early hours. Just keep the black coffee coming!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have quite an eclectic mix of authors and books that I enjoy, from Frank Herberts famous Dune series; The Lord of the Rings; Bernard Cornwell’s Sharpe series to the more recent Gail Honeyman’s Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing the sequel to “A Time to Deceive -the Wanderer Chronicles”, the main character Brad as longevity which I hope the readers will take to their hearts.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning, trying and testing various different websites to see which works best. Promoting my books is a lot harder and more time consuming than I ever realized it would be.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be honest to yourself, write about what interests you, that way your creative juices will flow better. Develop your own style of writing and don’t try and copy others. Readers enjoy originality.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
What you don’t know, can’t hurt you.
Don’t take yourself too seriously, be able to laugh at yourself.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading the Flashman series by George Macdonald Fraser. They are so irreverent and non-pc, outrageous at times, so much so that they are quite refreshing and humorous.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Write more books, possibly a script for TV or film. I think “A Time to Deceive ” would make a truly great film.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A Time to Deceive – Ronan Farrell
Frank Herbert – Dune
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – Steig Larsson
