Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a native of Louisville, KY (correctly pronounced LOU-A-VULL) and now reside on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I formerly owned and operated a Tampa Bay boat towing business called SEA-TOW, where I worked hand-in-hand with the Coast Guard during oil spills and rescuing stranded boaters. It was the product of my experiences there that inspired my first novel “WIRED” published in 2010.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“TAKEN & AFRAID” is a stand-alone sequel published in 2015. It picks up the action six months after WIRED ends and it has received rave reviews on Amazon. You can check them out on Amazon or my website at www.ronsonduncan.com.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a morning person and do most of my writing in the wee hours. I’m pretty much brain dead after twelve noon.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always been drawn to fiction with the likes of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and John Sanford. I also enjoy Dan Brown, John Grisham, and Clive Cussler. They’re all very talented fiction writers.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m polishing the TAKEN & AFRAID screenplay, which was recently adapted by screenwriter, Katherine VanPelt. She did a super job in writing the movie script and everyone expects T&A to hit the silver screen. It will be available for option in August 2016.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Most of my promotion is done through Amazon and my website: www.ronsonduncan.com. I also use free book sites like Awesomegang to expand my readership. The last time I did a free book giveaway, I reached over 1,800 new readers, which is (get ready for it) “awesome.”
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing is a merciless master. It’s a journey rather than a destination. Keep plugging away at your writing and don’t get discouraged. The more you write, the better you will get. Write at least two hours every day and read other authors in your genre. I am still learning.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky
What are you reading now?
“All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr. He’s an amazing long-form writer.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll be spending the next few months promoting my two screenplays: WIRED and TAKEN& AFRAID. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.
