Interview With Author Ryan McClellan
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been a writer since I was 18, and I currently have four books in publication, with four more on the way. I am an avid reader, and I love to captivate readers with dystopian thrillers and a few personal development books. You can find my website at www.rwmcc.com.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“I Don’t Care What You Think About Me” is in pre-launch, but it was inspired when I decided that people need to learn to accept themselves for who they are. I found that the key to success in life is to look at feedback and opinions just like an author would: “I’m sorry, but I’m not accepting notes.” I would love to discuss further.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I write without outlines! Freewriting has been a gift for me. Technically, I am trying to figure out a way to schedule my processes, which is a work in progress!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I enjoyed: “Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas,” mostly because I can relate to it! I’ve been a fan of Stephen King, but I must admit, I am not fond of his more recent works. Lastly, I am a big fan of dystopian thrillers, though I tend to read a lot about book marketing tactics. In the marketing world (I am a Digital Marketing Specialist by trade), everything changes daily, so I have to keep myself educated.
What are you working on now?
I am working on four new novels, which will be launched every 3 months in 2025.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t think! Just write. It is an art, despite the idea that one must “write to the market.” I feel this is a good point, but I fondly disagree. Though it is okay to commercialize a book, it is still an art, and my advice for a new author would be to simply write what is in your heart, and then find the market you are going for after.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
My grandfather once said: “Take that rage, and put it on a page.” This has stuck with me for years, and I find that writing is cathartic. It is essentially a way to relieve stress.
What are you reading now?
“Fairy Tale” by Stephen King, and a number of books on marketing. I have to keep my brain fed, and I am currently reviewing my current releases and my future ones.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to establish a better game plan for pre-launch. I have had limited success with releasing without a plan, so I am working on the process of attracting users prior to launch. Reviews are everything, and I do plan on a three-month launch of four books I have in manuscript format.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
“Fairy Tale,” “On Writing,” the “Divergent” series, and my own books!
