I’m a writer.
More? Oh, all right… let’s see… I have a husband, two children, a dog and believe in dreams. I come from Chicago and love my city, most times. I’m a HUGE football fan! GO BEARS!
So far, I have authored fifteen books and just maybe I’ll let them have life. 😉
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest to see life is Falling: Book One of the Negative Ion Series. Inspiration came from seeing this guy… this absolutely hot, muscled, tatted… just yummy all over and the story popped in my head and would not let me stop writing until I had it down.
Jaxen Malloy… ooh! Wee! *sigh* Back to reality…
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual… no, I don’t think so. When I have something, I sit and sit and sit while blasting my Spotify. Fricking LOVE Seether and when one of theirs pops on, I shake all my a** while my fingers caress the keyboard but honestly, most genres get me going. My husband is amazed at some of the stuff I listen to and enjoy.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Anything Judy Blume. She was the first author that caught me, engaged me. Kept me, since I was teenager.
Terry McMillan’s Mama was awesome. Effortless by SC Stephens. Bridges of Madison County. I swear I’m anticipating To Kill A Mockingbird’s sequel.
What are you working on now?
Another series, still untitled. This will be my third. I recently finished an eight-book series that just made me wonder how I was at all sane and could comprehend anything anymore. I love those characters. They were my first and I will cherish them, always.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Word of mouth is crucial, no matter which avenue you choose. And of course, Awesomegang is… well, you know! 😉
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes… write to please you. You know your story, tell it and end it the way that feels right to you. Take the criticism, either learn from it or ignore it while remembering, not everyone is going to love or get you. Loving you, in every way, starts with you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up and stay true to you, hence the answer above.
What are you reading now?
I’ve been asked to read an ARC and I’ll start that this weekend. After that, I’m not sure. Love to have recommendations, though.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Well, I think I’m going to finish this current series then bang my head on the desk as I search for a title for the books and series while ignoring the voices from the Cannons. For now. Maybe.
