Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
A lover of superheroes and all things fantasy it was only natural to find a home within the Contemporary Fantasy genre.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Retribution, book one of The Dagger of Aita series. I guess inspiration comes in different forms. First a character appeared to me. Then a scene on a roof top in the middle of the night. Once I’d written the scene I knew there was a story to be told. Which lead to an extensive amount of research and world building.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write the book in order, beginning to end. Each scene is written three times. The first time through is a very rough draft. By the second time through I have a better idea of how the scene must be written. Then, the third time around it is merely cleaning a tightening up the scene. At the end of the process the scene is finished and placed in a master file.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
When I was very young Winnie the Pooh followed by years of Nancy Drew. As I got older other classics were introduced to me and I read them all. The Bard is a long time favorite. In contemporary fiction Sidney Sheldon captured my heart and I read every book he wrote. And then…J.R.R. Tolkien made an appearance in my life. I read The Hobbit so many times I had to tape the cover back on. I also enjoyed the humor of Robert Aspirin (his Mything series) and Douglas Adams (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy). Other influences – Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, the quintessential Star Wars.
