Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a stay at home mom that has been devouring romance novels for years. After going through several books a week, I decided to start writing some of my own ideas in 2014. I only got the courage to share them this year. My first book, Of Two Hearts, is available on Amazon now. My next project is coming out in May and I am so excited to share it with everyone!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Of Two Hearts is the name of my debut novel. The book’s title was inspired by a song called, Man of Two Minds by The Trews. The song talks about a love triangle where the man is torn because he is genuinely in love with two people. Of Two Hearts is also a love triangle and I kept finding myself thinking of the song’s lyrics while writing.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually only get to write in the evenings once the baby is in bed. I like to sit on the couch, in front of the fireplace, with a cup of coffee or tea and just zone out. That and running are the two greatest things I do for myself in terms of self care.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The list is huge! If I think way back to 2014 when I started writing, it was in the middle of the Fifty Shades frenzy.
I had watched an interview with E.L.
James where she talked about just being a normal woman with a normal life, who wrote on her blackberry! That’s when I realized anyone can do this, you simply need to put the words on paper and put it out there.
What are you working on now?
My next book, Burn, comes out May 2018. It’s a contemporary romance with a bit more of a suspenseful twist.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesomegang is wonderful of course. I also use Instagram often (@s.scott.author) and Goodreads is always a favourite.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write, write. If you can follow through and complete your story, the hardest part is done and the rest will fall into place.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be yourself. Not everyone will like your work. If you stay true to what you like to write and like to read, you’ll find others who like it too.
What are you reading now?
I’m rereading the Something in the Way series by Jessica Hawkins. It hurt my heart in the best way the first time I read it.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My next project, Burn, comes out in May. After that, First Glance, will be releasing in the fall. If you get a chance to read Of Two Hearts and meet the character, Tillie, then you’ll want to check that one out. It will follow her unconventional path to happily ever after.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A bullet journal
Anything by Hailey Faiman
Fifty Shades
Marx Girl by T.L. Swan
