Interview With Author Saleha Ali
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am 24 years old, born and raised in Pakistan. I have always wanted to publish my own book, but writer’s block or life got in the way. I was not better equipped either, until recently, when I got a job at a publishing house. I learned the knick-knacks of formatting, publishing, design, and so much more. I finally had all the tools to write AND publish my book!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Caras De Malicia – first of my many books to come. It means “Malice Faces” in Spanish. I enjoy writing stories revolving around dark themes, and this book is basically a collection of all the best stories and poems I have written in all my life. The writings are heavily influenced by my experiences.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not in particular, I just write a draft, and then try perfecting it millions of time.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Charles Dickens, Leo Tolstoy, The Doll House, Franz Kafka, and so many more.
What are you working on now?
Well, for now I have decided to see how this book does. I do have a couple more book ideas, just need to learn illustration. I am also working on a game at the moment.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t think too much, fear usually holds us back. I mean, what have you got to lose, right?
What are you reading now?
I usually read webtoons, but I don’t read them as much as I used to. Pictures really attract me, so any book with pictures works for me!
