Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a 6’7″ former elite volleyball player and DIY enthusiast with a PhD in mechanical engineering. I’ve only written one book, but have more planned.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Tall Life. The challenges of being tall and how I’ve overcome them inspired it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m trained as a technical writer, but I’ve tried hard in my first book to make it as accessible as possible for just about anyone.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a huge sci-fi fan and really enjoyed books by Orson Scott Card and Asimov. On the non fiction side, I really liked “Your Inner Fish” and much of my insights into height and back pain have come from reading the work of Stuart McGill, including “Back Mechanic”.
What are you working on now?
My new job as a research engineer at a tech startup has me busy. But I do eventually have more books planned relating to height and health.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not sure yet!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you are looking to make money, remember that books generate passive income, which can be better in the long run; bringing in a few bucks a day is much better than bringing in a thousand in one day.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
All things in moderation.
What are you reading now?
Some text books on anthropometry, not the lightest reading ๐
What’s next for you as a writer?
Promote this book, work on my Tall Life blog, then possibly do a more general book on height.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A book on general science, another on general health, and another with a pile of chess problems.
