Interview With Author Sarah Vigue
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
While I’ve only written one book, I have written short stories and articles that have been published for decades. I received my first real payment for writing twenty years ago and continue to write. With a background woven in marketing and writing, I creates text influenced by a love of storytelling, aiming to inspire others through relatable characters and compelling narratives.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Tatterdemalion’s Testimony is my latest book and I wrote it so people who have been through trauma could read something that made THEM feel seen and heard.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I find that if I can four to the floor and head to the ground and pray, getting vulnerable, I can write extremely well. I’d say that’s pretty unusual but, whatever helps, right?
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love the books “Educated,” “The Glass Castle,” and “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” and many others in terms of good memoir. Any good book with good storytelling moves and inspires me though. I church through a couple hundred books a year so I’m always in a good book and recommend reading and listening to audiobooks to others.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a modern day love story between two people who must decide if they continue on the way they are living or let go of the past to see what the future holds.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
It seems to be promoting my book through services like Awesome Gang when it’s discounted that makes the biggest difference. Everyone has a tight budget and needs a good discount.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be vulnerable in your writing but guard yourself when it comes time for criticisms and editing so you don’t get damaged in the editing and critique process.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up.
What are you reading now?
Diana Gabaldon’s “Dragonfly in Amber” and the Bible.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing works that make people feel and more connected to life.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible for all its wisdom and guidance and a few Wreck It journals to give me activities to do.
