Interview With Author Shankar Dhakar
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Shankar Dhakar, and I am a multilingual fiction author who writes across a wide range of genres — including science fiction, mythology, romance, thriller, mystery, horror, superhero fiction, and cosmic adventure.
I have written numerous books across multiple universes, each offering a cinematic storytelling experience. My works blend ancient mysteries with modern science, emotional depth with high-octane action, and Indian cultural elements with global writing sensibilities.
My books are available worldwide on Amazon, Google Play Books, Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and many international platforms.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled “Rahasya-e-Mohabbat: The Curse of Devgarh”.
It is a mythological romantic thriller that blends ancient legends, deep emotion, supernatural elements, and a timeless love story set against the haunted mysteries of Devgarh.
The inspiration came from my fascination with forgotten palaces, ancient curses, and the emotional depth of love that survives across lifetimes. I wanted to explore how destiny, supernatural forces, and human emotions collide when two souls are connected beyond time.
This book allowed me to combine romance, mystery, mythology, and cinematic storytelling in one powerful narrative.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes. I often visualize my books like a movie — scene by scene.
Before writing, I build the entire world, characters, and emotional arcs in my mind like a film director. This helps me create stories with strong visuals and immersive experiences.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I draw inspiration from creators known for deep world-building and powerful narratives:
Dan Brown
Brandon Sanderson
Amish Tripathi
Stephen King
Christopher Nolan
James Cameron
Their storytelling approach inspires me to build large fictional universes with emotional depth and cinematic scale.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I am working on a new romantic love story that explores deep emotions, complex relationships, and the meaning of true connection. Alongside this, I am also developing ideas for my next science fiction project, where I plan to create a larger, more cinematic universe with new characters and high-concept themes.
I enjoy working across multiple genres, so my creative desk is always filled with outlines, concept notes, and story maps. Several upcoming projects are already in progress, and I’m excited to share them with readers soon.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
One of the most effective tools I use is Book2Read, which automatically distributes my books to major global platforms like Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, and other international retailers. It allows readers from any country to access my titles through a single smart link, making global discoverability much easier.
Apart from that, I also promote my books through:
Amazon KDP
Goodreads
Google Play Books
Facebook reader communities
Instagram reels & posts
Pinterest visuals
YouTube trailers
My official author website
These combined platforms help my books reach readers worldwide.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write fearlessly.
Don’t wait for the “perfect moment.”
Your story becomes real only when someone reads it.
Keep learning, keep experimenting, and trust your imagination.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard is:
“Don’t wait for the right moment. Your story becomes real only when you start writing it.”
This simple line changed my entire approach to creativity.
It taught me that perfection is not the beginning — it is the result of continuous writing, improvement, and courage.
I learned that a writer’s greatest strength is consistency, not inspiration.
If you show up every day, even with a few words, your story will eventually find its shape, voice, and purpose.
And once you finish a book, you don’t just complete a story — you transform yourself as a creator.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I am reviewing one of my own books, “Wolf Code: Antim Mantri Yudh.”
As an author, I believe it is important to revisit my previously written stories to refine my perspective and strengthen the universe I have created. Re-reading my own work helps me stay connected to my characters, maintain consistency across my fictional worlds, and explore new ideas for future expansions of the series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Right now, I am working on a new romantic love story, exploring deeper emotions, relationships, and a more heartfelt narrative style. Alongside this, I am also expanding the fictional universes I have created and planning my next major science fiction project, which will introduce new concepts, characters, and a more cinematic world.
My goal is to push my storytelling into stronger emotional layers while building larger interconnected universes for future books. Several new ideas, series outlines, and long-term plans are already in progress, and I am excited to bring these stories to readers in the coming months.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island and allowed to take only a few books with me, I would choose:
The Bhagavad Gita – a timeless spiritual guide that offers clarity, strength, and peace in every situation.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – for its wisdom and its inspiring message about following one’s destiny.
Dune by Frank Herbert – for its extraordinary imagination, world-building, and depth of ideas.
One of my own books – to reflect on my creative journey and stay connected to the universes I have built over time.
These books would keep me spiritually grounded, emotionally centered, creatively inspired, and deeply connected to my purpose—even in complete isolation.
