Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an eclectic person – Originally from New York, I have had many kinds of friends from all walks of life. I think diversity inspires creativity. When I lived in New York City, the streets were alive with artists. I could hear musicians practicing all day from my apartment, I walked down the street and saw people scurrying along with their costumes or their manuscripts – always heading towards their “next big break.”
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The TWILIGHT TSUNAMI is my debut novel. It took me a long time to write because some of the subject matter is disturbing. I was inspired to write it because I had experience with the foster care system.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
You might call this unusual. I depend on my cat to wake me up to write. She climbs on me and meows in my ear at five a.m. She’s never late.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
All the classics.
What are you working on now?
I have several books going, and more in my mind.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Going all over the internet and connecting with as many sites as I can. It is hard to start out with no money for promotion. When I do put out what I can scrape up financially, I think book tours are essential.
Of course, a site like “Awesomegang” that is generous to new authors is “da bomb.”
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be true to yourself and your writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Trust your muse – that’s the advice I give to myself.
What are you reading now?
I just won Marcia Clark’s new book off Goodreads. She’s a refreshingly honest writer, and
she’s pissed off at a lot of people. I can’t blame her.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Trying to get through the upcoming reviews.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Kite Runner
The God Father
The Twilight Tsunami
