Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi I am a Christian author. My first novel “After the Benediction” was released on September 1, 2018. I also have two non-fiction titles “Heart of a Woman: Motherhood, Marriage, Ministry, and Money”, and “Life Won’t Wait.” I have another Christian novel due out at the end of this year along with my first children’s book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest project is entitled, that I am currently promoting, is “After the Benediction.” Having been raised in the Pentecostal Black church I have been exposed to the realities of of life “outside of the pulpit.” I was beginning to grow concerned with so much of the dram and controversy that has been publicized in recent years. I concluded that something must be going on with leaders, “After the Benediction.” This book serves as a catalyst to encourage leaders to confront their personal issues and remember the purpose for which Christ has called them to.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not unusual…perhaps creative. I honestly accomplish a lot of “writing” on the notes section of my Iphone. It is a convenient, effective, and subtle way to accomplish my writing tasks during my down times.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Christian authors such as Bishop TD Jakes and Tyler Perry have influenced me, along with Indie authors such as Sharel Gordon Love.
What are you working on now?
My second novel “Mema’s Pretty Little Black Girls” is due out by the end of this year.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I promote heavily in Christian FB reader groups as well as on Instagram.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I would encourage new authors to begin building a reader platform prior to releasing their work. It will make it easier to market your product once it becomes available because you will have already established a loyal readership.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Keep pressing…don’t stop because of closed doors. Keep knocking..eventually the right door will open to you.
What are you reading now?
I honestly have several books from fellow Indie authors that is on my reading list. Time has not allowed me to read them yet as I’m still in the crux of my own writing projects.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Film!!! I have a script available but am seeking production placement.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, a dictionary, and a notebook so I could write.
