Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Sheri-Lynn lives in farm country in Western Canada, with an inspiring view out each window. She grew up riding and working with horses/racehorse, drawing and selling animal artwork, and of course reading. Sheri-Lynn fell in love with reading at age twelve while reading The Black Stallion series by Walter Farley. One day in 2008, after an unsatisfying book, she decided to write her own. Inspired by her favorite authors who write paranormal romance, Jax, Sami and Tierney came to life in Sheri-Lynn’s mind. The Dracones were born, and she never looked back. With seven books out since 2016, Sheri-Lynn is about to release her 8th on August 30th.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Casstiel, Born of Lightning. This is the 2nd book in my Dracones Spinoff series called Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms. As I write, more characters pop up, demanding they have their stories told as well.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write best at night.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The authors and books that influence how and what I write are Sherrilyn Kenyon and JR Ward, along with a few others. I love large casts of characters, where they all grow to become like one big family. I also enjoy multiple POV’s, and a darker story, with twisted humor.
What are you working on now?
Way to many to count, lol. I have about 10 different stories in the works.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That seems to be ever changing.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes, make sure you get beta readers in your genre, give them a deadline and a questionnaire to fill out. If you don’t know where to find any, FB has a massive reader/writer communtiy, you can find them in groups there. Get a good editor that is recommended by another author who has been around a while and knows what they are doing.
I love and highly recommend doing up a GMC chart (Goal, Motivation, Conflict) Debra Dixon has a great book on Amazon called GMC. If you do no other plotting, at least do that. Also, K.M. Weiland has some great resources and I love her Structuring your novel book. Had a few lightblub moments there as she has great tidbits.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Was told to learn to do my own formatting. I did, and am glad.
What are you reading now?
between books, and trying to write.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Get more books written and released and learn how to do my own FB adds.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Acheron & Born of Silence by Sherrilyn Kenyon, and 2 of JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood.
