Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written three books and I have had several short stories included in anthologies. I am presently working on a couple of Christmas stories, one for an anthology and the other as the transition book to end one series and start the next.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Titanium Blue is the third book in the Leeward Files series. It is a second chance love story within a suspense thriller. Tobias Anthony Roberts aka Tar lost his leg in Afghanistan. After leaving the Marines and the drugs behind he seeks to reclaim his relationship with his wife and son. As Tar and Jenna’s relationship heats up so does the danger to their son. When Toby goes missing they have to face the possibility of a life without him. Can their love survive a parent’s worst nightmare?
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in the store room at work when business is slow and during lunch. It’s great, no internet, few distractions.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Kat Martin, Jayne Ann Krentz, Reese Ryan, M K Graff, James Rollins, Virginia Kantra, Dean Koontz, Clive Cussler, Stephen King, Sabrina Jeffries, Nora Roberts, Heather Graham, Will Thomas, etc. I like faster paced books with action. I love romance but I want more than just boy meets girl, etc.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a World War 2 short story for a winter anthology, a holiday 2 weddings and a murder story for my series switch and the first book in the new series, which is a spin-off of the first series. I’m also planning the next series which will merge with these as well.
My published series, the Leeward Files is about three girlfriends and their overcoming the bad things that have happened in their lives to become strong independent women.
The Heroes of Leeward are two of the girls’ brothers a fireman, a policeman and the third will be a former police officer accused of murder who is exonerated by the courts but not the small town he comes from. He begins working as a Private Investigator and his book will lead into the Harrell Family Chronicles.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still searching for it. I love Instagram. I tolerate Facebook and Twitter. I barely do anything on Linked In but my blog posts go automatically to my page. I have recently joined two Facebook groups that have increased my Instagram, Bookbub and Goodreads followers. I believe it has also resulted in more pages read on Kindle Unlimited.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing, keep learning, believe in yourself and find your tribe. Find a writers group, online if not in person. Create your own writers group if you have to. Find people who share your passion and help each other achieve.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just write the damn story! Don’t try to edit while you are creating. Get the story down. You can fix it later but you cannot edit a blank page.
Believe in yourself. Take your writing seriously, if you don’t no one else will.
What are you reading now?
Willie Nelson’s It’s a Long Story
Tammera Cooper Sleeping Mallows
Love and Lace Online Magazine
Hot Summer Nights Anthology
The Last Fifty Pages by James Scott Bell
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d like a movie deal and be able to quit my day job but barring that, just more of the same. I have so many stories in my head. I still want to write a historical series, “The American’s are Coming,” about an estranged son returning home to find he is next in line to be duke. The woman he loved who was forced to marry his brother is now a widow and her son, is actually his son. He has made his way back to England via a Wild West Show with his stepdaughter and son.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Anything by Amanda Quick aka Jayne Ann Krentz or Sabrina Jeffries.
