Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Skye Bailey is my pen and I live in the U.S. I like to write heart-wrenching, dark romance stories with characters that have gone through hardship and abuse and have survived and become thrivers. I myself have gone through many struggles in my life and sometimes incorporate those struggles into my stories. My stories will almost always have HEA endings because I love to give my characters hope and happiness in the end after much hardship. I have currently written seven books. You may contact me through my email at sbauthor100@yahoo.com
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Beautiful Life. It’s book three of a novella series. It’s actually inspired in part by things I’ve experienced in my own life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have to begin by writing my first draft on paper and pencil. It just doesn’t work for me to begin typing. I have to do it on paper and pencil first. When I get an idea for a story I just go with it. I write and write almost nonstop until I finish it. Then I take my time to refine it, polish it, and edit it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
C.S. Lewis, Therese of Lisieux, Augustin of Hippo, Karol Wojtyla, Sue Grafton, Anna Zaires, Kathleen Kirkwood, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Brooke St. James, Leah Atwood, and Fulton Sheen.
What are you working on now?
I just finished the third book in my Beautiful Series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Goodreads is the best website for me that has helped me in promoting my books and giving them exposure. I also like doing the amazon book giveaways to give them exposure and using the amazon promotional services because they are affordable and help put my books out there.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice to aspiring writers is to just do it. Read, read, and read, in the genre that you want to write about and do some research about it. Then just write. When you’re just starting out on your rough draft don’t worry about grammar or punctuation or spelling, that will come later. Just worry about writing down your story and ideas. Don’t be afraid to fail. Your first book is most likely going to have many mistakes but the great thing is that you can always go back and fix errors and write new editions.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t worry about negative reviews and don’t listen to people who try to discourage you to follow your dreams. If you really want to write a book, then write it. Follow your heart and your dreams and take a risk on yourself.
What are you reading now?
The Elusive Flame by Kathleen Woodiwiss and Shades of the Past by Kathleen Kirkwood.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To keep writing as long as I enjoy it.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Kathleen Kirkwood Collection #2: The HEART Trilogy, and Mia & Korum: The Complete Krinar Chronicles Trilogy.
