Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello. I’m Skye McNeil. I write romantic suspense and contemporary romance. I’ve been writing now for about eleven years. So far, I’ve written 15 books with more on the way. Writing is my passion, but it’s also my second job. During the day, I work as a paralegal and absolutely love criminal law cases. I have two cats, two dogs, one adorable daughter, and an amazing family.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Exonerated with Love. This is book two in the Mobster Files and picks up a short time after the first book. My love of criminal law is the biggest inspiration for this book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have to write my first draft with pen and notebook. The notebook must be a yellow legal pad.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don’t believe just one author influences me. It’s a combination of all the authors I’ve read and followed on social media.
What are you working on now?
Presently, I’m writing two books. One in my Atlas Series and the other in my Collegiate Peaks series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think Facebook and Twitter have been my biggest websites when it comes to promoting my books. Building an online presence is more important than pushing your books on readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up. It may take a while before any publisher gives you attention, but it’s well worth it in the end.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t doubt your writing. Everyone has their own style.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading Mute by M.L. Nystrom
What’s next for you as a writer?
My goal for the next year is to write/edit at least three more novels. Some may be part of series I currently have out, but I also like to pursue stand-alone stories as well.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring
