Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This will be my first published book. I began writing when I was in elementary school. I developed a passion it for it due to creative writing which I learned about in the 4th grade. I enjoy reading any genre as long as it has romance in it. I’m a sucker for love. So, I wrote a romance novel.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Charming without Chance” was originally inspired by my attitude towards pretty boys. It was going to be titled “The Pretty Boy Captive” which would follow a girl who fell in love with a pretty boy. As I began writing, I started to acknowledge that the story was bigger than a pretty boy and his characteristics. There was a story behind that — a girl who already dealt with those type of men and she had to use what she has learned to prepare her for the re-entering dating world.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I consider my writing habits normal. I sit on the bed, on the couch, or on the floor in front of my laptop tying away. I’m either distracted by the television or YouTube videos at some point, but when I have an idea, I write it out.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too many. When I was in middle school, I began reading mature books written by authors like Eric Jerome Dickey and Carl Weber. The most influential books I’ve read to date “Get Some Love” by Nina Fox, “Indigo Summer” and the Indigo Series by Monica McKayhan, and “The Ties that Bind” by Electra Rome Parks
What are you working on now?
I’ve received some great feedback on “Charming without Chance.” So, I’m definitely considering a sequel. I am currently working on another project, but no matter what I will have another book released in December 2015.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Word-of-mouth is something that I live by. I’m new to promoting online, and I am enjoying it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t procrastinate and don’t over-edit. You’ll save yourself the heartache and headache if you just finish and leave your work be. Trust me, it took over a year to finally publish my first book. I edited it at least five times before I told myself to stop. If I kept editing it, it would still be saved on my desktop.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do what makes you happy.
What are you reading now?
I’m actually re-reading a great trilogy by Anne Aguirre. “Enclave”, “Outpost”, and “Horde” are great books. It is young adult, but there’s so much going on. The characters are so vivid, and that’s what I enjoy most about reading — the characters.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Over the summer, I started a YouTube channel to get out of my comfort zone. I’ve always been a quiet, “background”, introverted person, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I just feel like I’m a character that people outside of my family and friends would enjoy getting to know. My videos consist of vlogs, personal stories, and self-help. Other than that, I’m going to continue writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
That’s impossible! Well, “Goodnight Moon” by Margaret Wise Brown is my first favorite. The second book would be a notebook to write in. Ah-ha! You like how I did that one?
The third and fourth book would be my first published book “Charming without Chance” and the Bible.
The next question should be: What do those 3 or 4 books say about you as an author?
Mmmh… Readers, what do you think?
