Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Sonya McKinzie was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia and currently resides in Lawrenceville, Georgia with her beautiful six-year old daughter. She is a 15-year domestic violence survivor. She is the Executive Director and Founder of Women of Virtue Transitional Foundation, a Lawrenceville, Georgia based nonprofit organization that fights to eradicate abuse. When humankind experiences traumatic experiences or extreme life stressors, life unravels and becomes hard to bear. Sonya’s great passion is nurturing and helping to heal to women and girls that have experienced traumatic experiences such as abuse. As a second-generation survivor of abuse, she strives to help my clients, who children and adults to find healthy endings to their not so healthy beginnings. While there is no single approach is works on every traumatic situation, she has been trained both by life and academically to provide mentorship, coaching and counseling in a way that will be well received and utilized by all my clients.
Sonya is a speaker and author that has authored three books and is one of the twenty-three co-authors of the Best Seller, Soul Source Book, released in July 2017. She released her third best seller ThriveHer: Women That Walk Confidently and Spiritually from Surviving to Thriving in November 2017.
Sonya’s educational background includes a MA in Human Services Counseling with a focus in Addictions and recovery, a BA in Business Management, and hold a Victims advocate certification. The education and experience has been used to not only help build my business sense but to also counsel those affected by trauma.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
ThriveHer: Women that Walk Confidently and Spiritually from Surviving to Thriving – It was inspired by my many obstacles of hardships from domestic violence, suicide attempts and overcoming.
