About Sophie Red Dot – The Book of Magical Creatures
A red dot. A talking cat. A world full of magic.
Magic? Dragons? Hidden powers? For Sophie Dupont, it was all just a fairy tale – until her eleventh birthday.
The little red dot above her eyebrow? Just a birthmark, or so she thought. The fluffy toy cat from that strange little shop? Nothing more than a harmless stuffed animal. But then the cat suddenly comes to life – and speaks!
Sophie is no ordinary girl. She is a Red Dot – chosen to save the Magical Creatures of a forgotten world.
Together with her talking companion Taro, a cheeky cat with secrets of his own, Sophie embarks on a magical adventure full of wonder, friendship, and courage. Ancient legends come to life, mystical beings awaken – and an age-old book leads her to a destiny greater than anything she could have ever imagined.

Author Bio:
May Oldchess is an IT executive, code artist, and story crafter with a deep love of magic – both the digital kind and the kind that lives in the pages of a good book. She lives with her family in Zurich, where her hobby basement is packed with robots, VR headsets, and a suspicious number of video game controllers.
The idea for Sophie Red Dot – The Book of Magical Creatures began one day when her nearly 9-year-old daughter Charlie declared: “Mama, I want a story that’s modern and just goes BOOM!” Challenge accepted. Inspired by Charlie’s wild imagination, their globe-trotting adventures, and the everyday magic of family life (read: beautiful chaos), May began weaving a story filled with wonder, laughter, and heart.
Helping shape the tale were the family’s three cats:
Cupcake – the cheeky adventurer with the world’s mightiest purr,
Muffin – a tuna-obsessed sweetheart who proves that love can smell like fish,
and Cookie – a fearless huntress who believes no tree is too tall if you dream big enough.
Together, they inspired Taro, the mischievous feline in the book who brings warmth, humor, and just the right amount of magical mayhem.
From secret doors in Paris to whispered spells and sparkling dreams, Sophie Red Dot is a true family creation – a heart-project that Charlie proudly helped shape with her many brilliant (and often delightfully weird) ideas.
