Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is the first to actually be published, but I have several more soon to be coming out, most will be super hero related, with my own original characters.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of the book is “The Homeless Teddy Book 1 Origins of Homelessness”. The idea came to my brother & I when we had moved to California to look for work, and ended up homeless there. As we were actually pan handling, I would play my Gameboy a lot, and the doll in Pokémon influenced our thinking to “What if we put a teddy bear in our place?” I then came up with several storylines for this, and even attempted to get a newspaper syndication, doing several drawings for the ideas (which are all in this book), but due to our situation I moved back to Virginia before anything came of it. Being jobless for awhile & living with my parents, I just recently was able to open a bank account to submit this to Amazon. This whole thing is a test, and what a better test subject than a teddy bear!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’ve been wanting to be a writer since I was a young teen, so I excelled in English classes, and even went to a horror writing college class. I get inspiration from time to time about certain stories, and I always try to take notes of the concepts. My personal writing universe has been growing for over thirty years, so I think once I start getting my books out, people will enjoy them.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
All comics from Marvel, DC, even Peanuts & Garfield. Horror authors like Stephen King & Dean Koontz, Sci-fi stories like Star Wars & Star Trek, and even fantasy like Dungeons & Dragons have been influencers all my life. I used to have a huge book & comic book collection, but lost most of them when I became homeless. Currently I am only keeping up with television shows of WWE wrestling & The Walking Dead.
What are you working on now?
My next book will probably be a horror type story that I had written along time ago, but need to retype and do some editing on. It will be called “When Black Widows Attack”.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is my first book, so all of this is experimental right now.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up, this has been a dream of mine since I was a young teen. Don’t trust what others tell you about this business, do your research, and make a battle plan.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Used to have a sign hung on my wall that said, “Make today the best day ever!”
What are you reading now?
Currently between books, last one I read was a Dean Koontz novel. I am keeping up with WWE & TWD though on television, and currently playing Fallout 4 on the PS4.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To open up an online store where I will provide t-shirts, caps, puzzles, stickers, bookmarks, toys, and even my own board games.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Four blank notebooks (and pens) to write my own stories. Lol. I guess what this question is really asking is what three or four books are my favorites. In that case, maybe a Conan, The Barbarian, a Star Trek, a The Destroyer, & an Executioner.
