Interview With Author Stella Rainbow
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name’s Stella Rainbow. I write Queer (mainly MM and MM+) Romance with all the fuzzy feelings, a great cast of side characters a.k.a. found family, some adorable furbabies, and lots of sweet moments. I write both paranormal and contemporary romance. I started publishing in June 2020, and as of July, 2022, I’ve published seventeen books and two boxsets.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Watching The Sunrise, an MX romance featuring a genderfluid MC and the man who helps them discover who they truly are. I was talking to a genderfluid friend about her experience when the idea came to me, and with her help, I gave Charlie and Brady a story I’m very proud of.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmmm…I don’t know if it’s unusual, but I love listening to songs in languages I don’t understand when I write. I have a habit of singing along, which distracts me if I’m listening to English songs.
Currently, I have a playlist of Thai songs made up of the soundtracks from my favorite Thai shows.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Rick Riordan is my favorite author, and I adore the way he writes. His characters’ voices are honest and real, and I try to learn from that. Also, I love how diverse the cast in his books are.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on the third book in my Lords of Otherworld series, Nox, and having a lot of fun with it. Nox, the titular main lead, has a habit of making bad/crazy choices, and watching him flounder is very entertaining.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My newsletter readers, without a doubt. They’re a sweet, amazing bunch who are very supportive and always make me feel glad I do what I do.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing, and don’t let anything stop you. But at the same time, make sure you take care of yourself. You need to be healthy to write great books!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
That writing/publishing/being an author, it isn’t a race, it’s a marathon. All you need to focus on is to keep going.
What are you reading now?
A Mage’s Guide to Aussie Terrors by AJ Sherwood. It’s hilarious!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have way too many ideas in my head, so I need to sit down and make a concrete plan for what 2023 will look like for me.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Hitman’s Guide series by Alice Winters, because I could read them a million times without getting bored.
