Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Stenetta Anthony writes children books that encourage empathy, love, acceptance and forgiveness toward others. She is the author of 3 picture books and have published work in Anthology book. Her background in education and business inspire others in the book industry enabling her to touch the world over while writing, touring schools, community and other locations. When Stenetta is not writing she is embarking on new adventures and watching favorite game show Jeopardy. Stenetta resides in the Midwest with her husband, children and grandchildren.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest children’s book is A Home for Sally. The inspiration for writing this book was to bring awareness about special needs animals and encourage adoption among them.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t consider my writing habits as unusual.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The book that has influenced me is a children’s book of course; The Little That Can-Do Big Things by Things. This little engine was overlooked by the big engines who believed who he couldn’t do anything. However, after one of the engines was in trouble the little engine came to the rescue saving the day.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a book about dogs and their emotions. It is fun hearing all the pet parent stories.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am always looking for opportunities to promote my book, so one specific method is used. I believe there such be versatility for marketing and promotional purposes
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Best advice I can give to new authors is don’t’ wait until your book is published to begin promoting your book, you are not just an author but a businessperson as well you must embrace both. Also, make sure you are legally covered in all areas as it relates to your book writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve heard is be yourself.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading The Treasure Hunter by Kevin Dedmon
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next is to complete a marketing class started in the fall as well as completing and publishing the book I am writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Books I would take on a deserted island are my bible, any romance book, because I am a romantic at heart, Little Engine That Could and finally War and Peace which I’ve never finished reading.
