Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I got my start as a reader, and as a daydreamer. I spent hours imagining myself in the stories I loved. What would I do if I got my owl from Hogwarts? (Attend Hogwarts, get sorted into Ravenclaw, and get my NEWT in Charms, just for the record.) What would I do if I was somehow, magically transported into the Lord of the Rings universe? What would my dress look like when I married Legolas? (It would have been awesome.)
Writing my own stories, where I could chase down those what-ifs, became my obsession.
I’ve written five (and a half) books now, with three of those currently published in the Witch’s Bite Series. I’m finishing up the fourth book in the series now ๐
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Forbidden Magic.
The last book in the Witch’s Bite Series deals with the darker sides of magic and the price paid for wielding them.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual? Probably not. I spend a lot of time day-dreaming about my characters, but I think that’s pretty common among writers.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
J. K. Rowling inspires me with her amazing world building and the depth of her characters.
In the Urban Fantasy genre I’ve been inspired by Patricia Briggs and Kim Harrison with their unique magic and fantastic worlds.
What are you working on now?
Forbidden Magic, Book 4 in the Witch’s Bite Series. It’s the final book in the series and I’m excited to wrap up Olivia’s journey ๐
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
AMS ads have shown the best overall effect on sales. I always have a 5 to 10 ads running.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Learn to write quickly without fear. Make a detailed publishing plan BEFORE you publish your first book.
Read as much as you can!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
They’re your dreams. Do what you want with them.
What are you reading now?
Death Becomes Her by Michael Anderle (Book 1 in the Kurtherian Gambit Series)
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m brainstorming my next series! It’s going to deal with people that don’t fit in inside a magical world that values what you can do over everything else.
Kindness and generosity is more important that ruthless ambition. Family is a choice. Love is shown in your actions.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ender’s Game, Deathly Hallows, How to Build a Raft for Dummies, and a blank notebook.
