Interview With Author Stephanie Kerr
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have just completed by first novel, Obsidian Queen. It's the first in a planned series. I am a German ex-pat. I live with my two kids, husband, two cats and dog. When I'm not parenting I'm reading or writing.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Obsidian Queen. I don't know that one thing inspired it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't know if it's unusual but I am both a panster and a plotter.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
K.F. Breene, Elise Kova, Tessonja Odette and Natalia Jaster are a few of my favorites. It was a Natalia Jaster character that inspired me to actually write a book.
What are you working on now?
I'm working on the second in the Alfheim Chronicles series, which will focus on two of the side characters in the first book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do most of my promotions on tiktok and twitter.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don't give up. It's going to feel daunting and impossible at times, but at the end of the day when you can say "I wrote an entire freaking book" it feels amazing, regardless of what happens after that.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Everyone's first draft sucks.
If I hadn't reminded myself of that advice over and over again I would have given up.
What are you reading now?
Right now i'm reading 'twisted love' by Ana Huang.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I'm going to finish the Alfheim Chronicles series, and possibly do some fairy tale retellings.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The air awakens omnibus by Elise Kova, A court of mist and fury and a court of silver flames by Sarah J. Maas.
