Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
There’s not enough time in the day for me. I love spending time with my kids, either watching them perform or just doing things with them. I love pretty much every sport I’ve tried – still need to try curling ๐ I love landscaping and hiking. I love drawing and digital design, and I love to write. I love being around people, and I love spending time alone. I love to learn new things. I’ve only written one book, but it was a crazy fun adventure. I’ve had so much fun visiting schools and sharing some of what I’ve learned in the process.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is Cathedral of Time. It’s book one in the World of Agartha series.
I had been thinking about creating a video game that would merge my love for Roman history with my love for art and gaming. I began to outline the storyline of the video game with all its different levels and when I finished, I looked at the word count and told my wife, “I think I’m actually writing a book first.”
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love to listen to audio books by other authors, as well as author forums while doing yardwork. I get lots of ideas while working and get anxious to return to my office to start transferring the inspiration to my books.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
J.K. Rowling, Brandon Sanderson, and Rick Riordan are the three that have influenced me the most.
What are you working on now?
Book two in the World of Agartha series, titled Pyramid of Skulls, is at about 85% completion for the first draft. I’m planning for a late 2018 release. I’m also continuing to move forward with the development for the various levels of the video game, which I’m planning to put on Kickstarter in late 2018 as well.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m just starting with the whole promotion aspect, so I’ll have to keep you posted.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Study, study, study to learn the craft better, ponder, ponder, ponder, to get great ideas, and then work, work, work to implement what you come up with.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
My father’s advice that a person can accomplish anything they set their minds to accomplish.
What are you reading now?
My first draft of Pyramid of Skulls ๐
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing work on the World of Agartha series. I have five books planned.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
