Author Bio:
Philippe Belanger graduated with an M.D. from Laval University in 2016 and has been deeply passionate about ancient thinkers since his high school years. He began reading both Western and Eastern philosophies at 14, with Stoicism becoming a key area of interest after discovering Seneca through Tim Ferriss’s books. This also sparked a passion for Roman history. Philippe prefers to refer to ancient philosophy as “mind-improvement,” as the term “Philosophy” in modern language often evokes mandatory, sometimes boring, classes. Inspired by his grandfather, Paulus, a lawyer and translator who often quoted Latin in his youth, Philippe’s love for ancient thought runs in the family. He has read Seneca’s essays countless times and listened to Letters to Lucilius repeatedly. Outside of work, Philippe stays active with sports including hockey, football, tennis, yoga, and swimming. He also enjoys cooking, hiking, backcountry camping, and cutting wood.
