Interview With Author Stuart Brogden
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a particular Baptist, believing that Christ died for His sheep and not the goats and believing that water baptism is for those who profess faith in Christ – that baptism being a testimony of their faith. I have written nine books, contributed to 3 more.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The most recent book I’ve written is Tradition! When Men Make Rules. It has been on my mind for a while and some recent interaction with Christians who aggressively press doctrines not found in Scripture brought to the fore-front.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write with a movie on the TV in the background.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Charles Leiter – The Law of Christ; Hal Brunson – Who Is Israel? What Is a Jew? Where Is Jerusalem?; Jason Meyer – The End of the Law: Mosaic Covenant in Pauline Theology; Terrance O’Hare – The Sabbath Complete.
What are you working on now?
I’ve started a book reviewing the history of the Baptists, with a working title of “People of the Book.”
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I post all the books I author and those I edit on a personal blog, as well as posting on Linked In and Facebook and in the newsletter published by the Sovereign Grace Baptist Fellowship.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Identify where your passion is and make an outline of how you would address the topic in a book.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write what you believe.
What are you reading now?
Papal Power by Henry Hudson; Baptism in the Early Church by Everett Ferguson.
What’s next for you as a writer?
In one week, I will be speaking in Lake Charles, LA and have several copies of several of my books available at cost.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible – HCSB translation; Triumph of the Lamb by Dennis Johnson; The Torch of the Testimony by John w. Kennedy; The Doctrines of Grace: Rediscovering the Evangelical Gospel by James Montgomery Boice & Philip Graham Ryken
