Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been a residential architect for many years. Awhile ago I started writing a mystery series about a female architect working in Cambridge, Ma. and dating the neighborhood chef.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, Facade, is the second in my Iris Reid series. It was inspired by the fascination I’d see at Harvard about visiting guest starchitects.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m still practicing full-time so I have to squeeze my writing in where I can. My monthly writing group makes sure that I don’t slack off.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Val McDermid, Louise Penny, Martha Grimes—all authors who create well-rounded characters, non-cookie-cutter plots, and wry humor.
What are you working on now?
Book 3 in the series. No title yet.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My books are getting a good word-of-mouth following that is steadily growing.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Make sure that your book is well-edited and keep writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Having a series of books to offer a reader creates a synergy.
What are you reading now?
Trespasser, by Tana French
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll continue writing the Iris Reid series for as long as I can come up with twisty, atypical plots.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Anodyne Necklace, by Martha Grimes
the latest Robert Galbraith book and
The Wire in the Blood by Val McDermid
