Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Sylvia, a Young/New Adult Romance/Fantasy author. I’m from Nigeria, and I’ve written 3 books but only one of those has been published.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, Fated Accident, will hopefully be live on the 20th of December. I’m honestly not sure what inspired it. I was lost in my head one day and the scene of their first kiss came to me. The rest of the story just built around it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s all that unusual, but I usually skip to the middle and end about 2 chapters into the book. I somehow always get stuck at the beginning, but after the end, I know the characters better and some of their actions from the beginning make better sense to me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always been an eclectic reader. But I believe Nora Roberts fostered my love for romance and happily ever afters. I however like some other authors like Sareah Hill,( she’s all round great and a beautiful human being), I also enjoy Patricia Briggs, Eliza Nolan, L.V. Lane etc.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m writing a young adult book set in Lagos Nigeria. It revolves around a girl who goes through hell, but finds the will to push on and fight to get the future she believes in and wants despite being kicked down so many times. Does she get her happy ending? Sign up for my mailing list and find out when it’s out.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m yet a new author and still testing the waters when it comes to book promotions and marketing. I’m still learningfwhat works for me and my brand too.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing even if you look at your work and feel like its puke. Just keep at it and you’ll realise you’re getting better.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Always remember that bad reviews are not about you, but about the work and its only the person’s opinion.
What are you reading now?
Somehow I’ve been all about reversed harem lately, lol. I’m reading L.V. Lane’s Omegaverse series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to establish a system that works for me, so I can concentrate on writing more books. I have so many stories waiting to be told in my head.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Can a series count as 1 book? Lol. I would take Sarah Hill’s ‘Call of the Blue Heron’ I’ve heard so many good things about it. I’d probably also take Patricia Brigg’s omega series, I’ve been wanting to reread it. Oops, I think that was more than 4 books, but hey, I’m sure I’d find a way to smuggle books.
