Interview With Author Tamara Wrenn
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first published book. I'm an avid reader who has always dreamt about writing a book, however I never imagined that my first book would be a work of non-fiction. I'm
a certified childbirth educator, doula, and birth perinatal wellness professional with more than twenty years of experience working with women and families. Utilizing my professional training, spiritual gifts and talents, I encourage and guide women through midlife transitions, helping them claim their own authority, and experience everyday freedom without fear, while recognizing that this freedom is a gift from God.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is, Invite God Into Your Birth Room: The Art of Spiritual Strategy for the Chiildbearing Year. I was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write this book. Pregnancy and everything related to it has become medicalized and politicized. Beleivers in Christ often neglect to put God at the center of their childbearing experience. This book draws hem back to that intimacy during this special time of life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No, I don't have any unsual writing habits.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Kimberla Lawson Roby, for her relatable stories about women, love, and faith.
John Grisham, for his thrillers and drama. I enjoy a good whodunit.
And there are a number of faith based authors who inspire me to grow in my walk with God like Priscilla Shirer.
What are you working on now?
Currently I'm working on promoting my book and learning more about how to get it in the hands of my target readers.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I used Draft2Digital for my distribution. I like the opportunities they provide for a new Indie
Author to learn about the industry. Watching their vlog on YouTube, applying what you learn, and using their tools is a sure pathway to being successful.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Before you invest thousands of dollars on writing coaches explore podcasts and YouTube.
Check out your favorite writers, what was their pathway? Everyone is a writing coach, but I
believe that you have to know who you want to become as an author in order to find the
right mentor and coach for yourself.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write every day.
What are you reading now?
My book :- )
While Justice Sleep by Stacey Abrams
Power in Position The Essential Pursuit of Unveiled Strength and Hope Required to Birth Destiny by Shamekah Shaw
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am looking forward to hearing women's stories about how the message in my book transformed their lives. I'm exploring cultivating that storytelling platform for them.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
It needs to be something that never grows old.
Back to Eden, The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural foods and Home Remedies.
