About Terminal Effects
Shelley Carleton thought the worst shift of her nursing career was behind her—until the dead started writing letters.
Five years ago, Margaret Lawson died peacefully at Ashwood Acres Eldercare Home. Now she’s begging for help from beyond the grave, trapped in a cycle of dying over and over again. And Shelley’s the only one who can stop it.
Returning to the abandoned facility, Shelley discovers Ashwood’s patients never really left. They’re still here, still suffering—harvested nightly by something that wears a doctor’s face and feeds on their final moments.
At the heart of it all grows something ancient. Something that doesn’t just claim the dying—it cultivates them.
To free the trapped souls, Shelley must destroy the source. But the deeper she ventures into Ashwood’s recesses, the more the building conspires to keep her. And in a place where death is an endless harvest, one mistake could trap her in the cycle forever.
A botanical horror novella, perfect for fans of T. Kingfisher and E.V. Dean.
