Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I write under two pseudonyms. Purity Pierce for “adult content” which is published on KDP. I use Lydia Chandler for everything else which is published on Smashwords. I began publishing in 2013 using Smash.
Purity has 40-books on Amazon in five different languages. English versions are posted the first week of each month. As it is now I have enough material to get me up to Feb 2020.
Lydia has
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
CPR of a Marriage. Believe it or not a writing prompt the Pinacolda song!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Define unusual. I write at home, in the library, the shopping mall, with a laptop and long-hand. Morning, noon or night. Just when I literally have the notion and energy.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don’t know that any have honestly. I’ve read everything that Nora Roberts has written (so far). I’ve also read all of Philippa Gregory’s historical romances. Mostly because I’m related to all of the people Philippa writes about! Anne Boleyn is my 20something great grandmother just for starters.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on several things at once. It keeps me from getting bored! CPR of a Marriage which will be the latest in flash fiction erotica. A special erotica piece just in time for Valentine’s Day. And last but not least – my memoirs. That one will probably have to wait until everyone is dead before I can publish it!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Anywhere and everywhere and I do it myself although I’m nearly at the point where I’m ready to hire some people to do some of the admin work for me so I can concentrate on writing fully.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you think you can transcribe your diary and become a millionaire, think again. You have to be able to actually write and write well. At least well enough for your copy editor to know what your intention is so they can do their job. Know that it isn’t JUST writing. There’s promotions, sales, creation of book covers, etc. that you will need to be involved in. Not to mention blogging and people interviewing you! And if you can’t afford to hire anyone to do these things you have to be very good at all of it and do it yourself.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t come into this thinking you’re going to be rich and famous.
What are you reading now?
Actually, I just finished reading the Life We Bury. AMAZING. Best book I’ve read in a very long time.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Finish off CPR of a Marriage and then spend some time focused on hiring someone to do my book covers for me as well as some radio interviews.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The largest book of blank bound paper I could get my hands on, a dictionary, and a thesaurus!
