About That Sudden Night in Venice by Daniela Alibrandi
A girl who has just graduated, with the dream of becoming a prominent journalist; a newspaper, The Voice of the Shadows, put together as best as possible by new journalism graduates to try to make ends meet, with the ambitious goal of entering the information elite; Omar Xantios, a famous and mature South American orchestra conductor, which is in his Venetian tour, and whose past is surrounded by a mystery regarding his controversial role in South America, during the political upheavals in his country. These are the ingredients of the engaging story, unfolding in the magical triangle existing among Verona, Treviso and Venice. Chiara needs to interview the great music Maestro to publish the weekly article, or the newspaper risks failing, but things don’t go as expected. In fact, Omar Xantios does not grant interviews. So, at the newspaper, with great difficulty, they manage to allocate a sum, which will allow Chiara to stay at least one night in the same, very luxurious hotel where Maestro Xantios is staying in Venice. Descriptions and atmospheres are the amazing frame of the involving loving suspense story.

Daniela Alibrandi is an Italian writer, she was born in Rome and lived in the United States. Professionally, she has been involved in cultural exchanges within the European Union and the Council of Europe. Among her extensive literary works, which include numerous novels and an anthology, we particularly remember in the Italian edition: “I Delitti del Mugnone” “Delitti sommersi”(Noir Festival 2023) , “Viaggio a Vienna”(Among the best books 2020), “Una morte sola non basta”(Presented at the library of the Italian Chamber of Deputies), “Quelle strane ragazze” (Perseide Prize 2014), “Nessun segno sulla neve” (Circe Prize 2013), “Un’Ombra sul fiume Merrimack” (Novel Writing 2012), and “I misteri del vaso etrusco” (Honorable Mention 2020). Winner of many Italian national literary awards, she was a finalist with her thrillers in the Mondadori Competition 2018, won the Gold Mystery Prize 2020, received the Special Yellow Noir Prize 2021, and she was awarded the prestigious Women Art Week 2022 Career Literary Award. She participates in major Italian national book fairs. Her short stories have all been published by a RAI periodical, while her novels are often featured on Italian RAI television and radio broadcasts.
