Author Bio:
Joakim Lloyd Raboff is a Swedish-American visual artist, writer, photographer, and author whose creative journey has been defined by a consistent drive to capture the extraordinary within the everyday. Whether through images or words, his work offers a lens into the world that is both candid and considered — an invitation to pause and look closer.
Educated at Gotland Art College in Sweden, Raboff has spent the past 35 years exploring storytelling across a wide range of formats and disciplines. He has published more than 25 books — from fine art photography collections and interview-driven documentaries to genre-defying works like The Aging Man’s Survival Guide and his most recent deep dive into the psychology of fear, Phobias & Fears.
His writing, much like his photography, reflects a nuanced understanding of both Swedish and English — languages he moves between with clarity and emotional depth. His work often straddles the line between introspection and observation, informed by a hybrid identity and a life lived across cultures.
But what truly drives Raboff’s creative practice is curiosity — a restless desire to learn, to challenge, and to make. Whether it’s painting, cooking, surfing, scuba diving, skiing, hiking or jogging, he sees no strict line between work and play. Every pursuit, every challenge feeds into the next. His art and writing are not standalone achievements; they are simply different ways of staying engaged with the world and with life. And for Raboff, that engagement is the whole point.
