The Ambition by Yvonne Blackwood
Imagine a story where ambition, family loyalty, and moral conflict come alive through the power of voice. Yvonne Blackwood’s debut novel, “The Ambition,” offers such an experience—a narrative that delves into the complexities of familial bonds and the high-stakes world of business.
Set in 1990s Toronto, “The Ambition” follows brothers John and Carmine Cippione as they inherit their father’s heating and air-conditioning company. Their differing aspirations lead them into alliances with influential developers, exposing them to financial risks and ethical dilemmas. The plot intricately weaves themes of ambition, cultural identity, and the immigrant pursuit of success, all set against a vividly portrayed urban landscape.
