Author Bio:
Nijiama Smalls
At the intersection of faith, emotional healing, and Black culture stands the work of Nijiama Smalls. A best-selling author, businesswoman, counselor, and speaker, she is the founder of the first virtual space created for the healing of black women – theblackgirlsguidetohealingemotionalwounds.com. For her work, she has been featured in numerous media outlets such as Black Enterprise, Modernmoms, DC News Now, Fox5DC, and Blavity.
Her work experience includes performing roles such as adjunct instructor at local colleges and leading programs in Washington, DC. An alumni of Fayetteville State University, Winthrop University, and the University of Phoenix, she has earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees and numerous certifications in business, social science, and mental health.
Her life has been dedicated to improving the lives of Black Americans. She is married to Pastor Shamon Smalls.
Shamon Smalls
Renowned speaker and leader, Shamon Smalls is a native Washingtonian and a graduate of The George Washington University. There, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s in Human Resources Development. He has spent many years serving in leadership in
the Intelligence space. More recently, he has spent time serving as Program Manager for government contracting portfolios and programs. Within this sphere, he has led programs with personnel of up to 200 subject matter experts, engineers, and technical & administrative specialists who have performed services within the public, private, and Department of Defense industries.
In February 2019, he began his pastoral ministry and in October 2023, Rev. Smalls was named the Lead Pastor for Zion Church Woodbridge, a church he has been serving in progressively for over seven years. Developing the campus leaders and engaging with members and attendees regularly to ensure they also build and grow in their own personal relationship with God.
The Smalls live in Manassas, Virginia, and have two school-aged children.
