England, 1936: A Ventetian woman dubbed “The Green Lady” is hanged in London for a murder she did not commit. Not long after, police are baffled by the killings of two young girls in the East Anglian market town of Pulminster
By 1940, war in Europe has been raging for a year and Eleanor White, who is fascinated by all things Venetian is evacuated to her enigmatic uncle Arthur’s cottage in the nearby village of Inglesford. At night, she hears an unearthly voice in the wind calling her name and is disturbed by a sinister wall mask, which is the image of “The Green Lady”.
Ellie is enthralled when one day, Arthur shows her an eighteenth century canvas that may or may not be genuine and is doubly excited to learn that its origin is shrouded in mystery surrounding a series of unsolved murders. When similar killings start occurring locally, a strange journey to Venice leads her into a world of deceit, death and a supernatural connection with events in both centuries.
The mask. The face. The painting. The murders: all part of an enigma spanning more than two hundred years. Can the terrible secret that links them be unlocked? Or will a cataclysm take place, which will affect the destinies of people many miles – and many years away?
Throughout the tales there is one constant factor; a hooded visitant that may be a force for good. Or evil…

Author Bio:
Christopher Jones is an artist, illustrator, cartoonist and “graphic designer working from home”. He is also an ex – teacher, driving instructor and butler. His first book, “The Breath of the Zephyr” is a historical murder mystery with elements of the paranormal, spanning a two hundred year period from Venice in the eighteenth century, (no it’s not another story about Casanova!) through World War Two and up to the nineteen fifties. to twentieth century England. The idea came to him after visiting a cousin who is an actor and lived in Cannaregio.
After leaving Goldsmith’s College, London in 1979, he worked for two years in the art department of a publishing company. He then worked for many years as a Driving Instructor running a small but successful school in Fulham. On selling the business, he trained with The Ivor Spencer School for Butlers. His first position with a titled lady ended after a year when she was arrested for fraud and his second ended after 18 months due to insanity. (of the employer, not CJ)
In 2018 he moved with. His wife to a small town in Cyprus where he began writing a sequel. After deciding to split the first book into two stories, the result became a trilogy entitled The White Phantom City. The Final result is The Breath of the Zephyr, White Phantom City and Sorrow for the lost.
