About The Critter Family: Exploring the Shenandoah!
Did you ever want an animal to be your friend? Did you want two? What if an animal found its way to you, would you want to keep it, talk to it, and play with it (even if you couldn’t bring it into the house)? Did you want a quiet, cuddly one, or an active, silly-acting one, or a sneaky, clever one?
In The Critter Family: The Fun Begins!, a family with three pets is moving from New York to Virginia. What begins as a family including Chris (Dad), Natty (Mom), Wendy (adult daughter), Allie (college daughter), Todd (11), Megan (9 1/2), and Brody (8) and three pets, a retired racehorse, a greyhound dog, and a cat, ends with the addition of five more critters. One-by-one, these five critters find their way into the family’s activities. They join the pets in what becomes the making of a growing animal family or should I say a growing critter family.
The “Critter Family” Illustrated Chapter Book Series for kids 7-12 years of age is a continuing story of a family who unintentionally created a Critter Family full of different breeds of critters each joining the critter group one-at-a-time under different circumstances. The critters are drawn to the family for fun and friendship with other critters. The excitement that the Critter Family generates by the fun-loving manner and lively activities of so many different types of critters draws the interest of many. Each of the critters helped to make this group special. Each critter found one or two other critters to be their closest friend(s), yet each one looked out for the others in the group and for the members of the Dunn Family.
While all this is happening, Todd, Megan and Brody learn to be more responsible by taking care of specific critters. Their interactions with the critters increase their family values and result in adventure and fun activities. In the end, these critters were easy to love! From being discovered to being rescued, the critters find a lifestyle of fun, friendship, safety, and service to the whole family! This is the first book in a series (involving a mink, horse, kai ken, pug, rabbit, duck, bird, wild animals).
PLUS, you will find a description page at the end of each chapter describing two things: real characteristics of the critter, and a character description of the critter up to that point in the tales.
