About The Debt Never Clears by Darney K. Born Rivers
The Debt Never Clears is a powerful Bronx memoir of justice, loyalty, survival, and redemption.
Born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx during one of its most turbulent eras, Darney “K Born” Rivers grew up navigating street politics, family loyalty, incarceration, betrayal, and systemic injustice. After surviving violence, wrongful accusations, and over 100 bullets fired through his apartment door — with only one striking his hand — he began to understand that his survival had purpose.
This memoir takes readers inside the realities of urban America: reform schools, street codes, loyalty and betrayal, wrongful conviction, reentry struggles, and the emotional cost of growing up too fast. But it is also a story of transformation.
From hustling in the streets to founding a nonprofit organization serving families in the Bronx, Darney’s journey becomes a blueprint for redemption, leadership, and belonging.
This is not just a story about surviving the streets.
It is a story about rewriting your destiny.
