Author Bio:
Jonathan Ohayon, a passionate entrepreneur and animal rights activist, who has made it his mission to create a more ethical fashion industry.
Growing up in Paris, France, Jonathan was deeply influenced by his family’s rich heritage in the fashion industry. From his grandparents, who were both skilled tailors, to his father, a retailer of fashion accessories, fashion and entrepreneurship were integral parts of his childhood. By the age of 6, Jonathan was already assisting his father at local markets!
His journey took a significant turn in 2014 when he adopted veganism, driven by a deep commitment to ethical principles. A year later, he co-founded Arsayo alongside his father and brother. Initially recognized for their innovative secured city backpack, which garnered awards from the prestigious Lepine contest and the French Ministry of Interior, the company has since expanded its mission. Arsayo now crafts vegan and ethically made backpacks and accessories, utilizing innovative, sustainable alternatives to animal leather.
Jonathan is also an animal rights activist, frequently participating in animal liberation demonstrations in Los Angeles, where he now lives. In 2019, he founded the F.A.K.E movement, that aims to elevate vegan fashion by creating pop-up events in iconic cities such as Los Angeles, Paris, and Tel Aviv.
“The F.A.K.E. Movement (Fashion for Animal Kingdom & Environment) was created out of necessity” said Jonathan. After a couple years living in Los Angeles, Jonathan couldn’t find any places to showcase the Arsayo brand that were both vegan and ethically made. This is why he decided to create a pop-up event where brands could proudly display their products, knowing that everything around them was aligned with their values.
The popup were such a success that Jonathan decided it wasn’t enough. He then created the very first Vegan Fashion Museum in the middle of Los Angeles.
His work has been recognized by some of the world’s most prestigious publications, including Vogue, the New York Times, and LA Times. In 2023, Jonathan Ohayon received a certificate of recognition from the city of West Hollywood for serving the community as a speaker to bring more awareness to environmental issues.
Jonathan recently developed an online marketplace dedicated to vegan and ethically made fashion. Fakemovement website serves as a testament to his commitment to making sustainable and cruelty-free fashion accessible to a broader audience.
