About The Jeweler’s Daughter by Annalisa Russo
Rubies and diamonds and gold, oh my…
An appraiser of rare jewelry. One of the country’s most wealthy men. A complicated, murky mystery.
Chicago 1928, Grace Hathaway is trying to cope with her father’s untimely death when she is followed home one dismal night by a shadowy stranger. If she’d had another option, she wouldn’t have done the unthinkable for a single woman and seek refuge with a bachelor—the mysterious and wealthy Jared Dunstan de Ware III. Fortunately, he is home; unfortunately, he’s as handsome as he is rich, and Grace has no intention of going down that road again.
Left on the doorstep of Angel Guardian Orphanage at age three, Jared’s heart has been guarded by walls of stone. How can a man trust anyone when his own mother abandoned him, and gold diggers constantly throw themselves at his feet? But as he sets out to unravel the web of intrigue surrounding Grace without breaking too many societal rules, he discovers an inexplicable urge to help and protect.
What follows is an escapade from Chicago’s ethnic neighborhoods to the jazz and glitz of New York City’s affluent ballrooms. Will Jared be able to keep Grace safe, or will the secrets of the past snake out and strike once again?
Sometimes it’s better to let sleeping dogs lie…
