About The Lion and the Shepherd: Keturah’s Children: Book 1 by Michael Horton
It is 4000 years ago, and a humble shepherd, Abram, is about to alter to course of all humanity. He will become the fork in the branching out tree that will give rise to Judaism, Islam, and, Christianity. But Abram’s main interests are so much more mundane than this. These are his obsession with young Sarai, the caring for his sheep, and, when he, his brother Haran, and his young nephew Lot are suddenly conscripted into the king’s army and whisked into a grisly war against the Elamites, it is just to keep everyone alive.
Working against Abram are the king’s knowledge of the prophesies arising from the bitter and haughty old priestess Mekhashef. Lowly Abram just wants to tend his sheep- nothing more. Though, the political hunt for his head and the heart-numbing goriness of battle will force Abram to become both the unwilling leader of men and, ultimately, what the prophesies had predicted- the resolute, steely-eyed “crusher of gods.”
