Author Bio:
Katie is a parent whose journey into understanding Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder (including what was formerly called “Asperger’s Syndrome”) began with the most personal of experiences – growing up with a sibling on the spectrum; and later, raising a child with ASD. Over the past two decades she has become a passionate advocate through both education and lived family experience, from countless hours spent in IEP meetings, therapy sessions, and quiet moments of discovery – learning to see the world through a different lens and finding profound beauty in neurodivergent perspectives.
With grown children now navigating their own paths, Katie brings both the wisdom of hindsight and the ongoing reality of supporting autistic family members in, and into, adulthood. When not writing, she enjoys genealogy, macrame, and spending time with her partner, extended family and Ginger, her mischievous Husky. She resides in the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex.
