About The Shattered Mosaic – A father’s search for proof in a world of faith
Vietnam Marine. IBM Systems Expert. Truth-Seeker. After 28 years mastering the logic of complex systems, AW Schade turned his analytical rigor inward. The result is The Shattered Mosaic—a grounded, fact-based fictional journey that bypasses allegory for an honest “logic audit” of faith.
Following a devastating personal tragedy, protagonist Jacob Hinsen realizes the religious dogmas of his youth can no longer support the weight of reality. Rather than surrendering to “divine mystery,” he applies the rigorous analytical logic of a career spent troubleshooting complex systems to rebuild a worldview from the shards of a broken faith.
This is a narrative roadmap leading directly to the bedrock of Humanist responsibility, reason, and empathy. It documents the grueling, honest work of trading ancient myths for a secular reality based on the shared human experience.

Author Bio:
AW Schade is a Vietnam veteran, former IBM professional, and a lifelong researcher of religious systems. His literary journey began with the raw, provocative short story, ‘God must be pissed because I’m confused as hell,’ which eventually evolved into the 5-star rated novella, ‘Looking for God within the Kingdom of Religious Confusion.’ Despite the critical success of his early work, Schade remained unsettled, feeling his search for proof had not yet reached its definitive conclusion. He spent the next several years expanding, refining, and deepening his inquiry, culminating in his debut full-length novel, The Shattered Mosaic.
A man of deep commitment, Schade has been married for over five decades and is a father to three sons and a grandfather to nine. By blending his military experience, professional logic, and a 15-year iterative writing process, Schade provides a roadmap for those seeking a truth that holds up under the weight of the real world.
