About The Teacher’s Wife and Other Fiction Nuggets by Jameel Shaik
This book is for readers who want to finish their stories in one sitting, get a ‘literary’ kick, and enjoy. These are eight flash fiction stories based in Asia and the USA. They deal with the basic human emotions – emotions that always have a way of playing with the lives of human beings.
And trust me, it’s not just human beings who are interested in living their lives. Animals and birds are too. Of course, their worlds are different from ours. But there is no harm in delving a bit into their lives too. All the creatures, especially humans undergo a seesaw of emotions. Sometimes, they are in doubt about their situations or their homes, and whatnot. Of course, life goes on without caring much about all of this as it has its course to undertake.
How we deal with our innermost emotions, others is a point worth understanding. It’s not easy to deal with so many things in life and one is easily overwhelmed. Greed is always bad and life always has a way of paying back in full right in this world. So, the eight flash fiction stories cover nearly every emotion imaginable. And the characters are the ones whom you meet in your lives – close ones, absolute strangers, some in-between. But all of them have a purpose in your lives – they teach us important life lessons. So important that you will never tend to repeat the mistake – at least not knowingly. One should reflect upon one’s life and pause it at times to assess one’s journey – see if it’s going in the right direction or not, has one knowingly broken someone’s heart either by our words or actions. This auto-reflection will shed important light upon the course of one’s journey and help in steering in the correct direction even if one has momentarily steered away from it.
Despite the ALMIGHTY’s strict dictum to not come near adultery, sometimes situations help Satan achieve his purpose – the trick is to never remain with a stranger woman – ‘Prevention is better than cure’ is not just for staying healthy but staying healthy morally and spiritually.
Just when we probably feel that a woman has messed up her whole life by dedicating it to vices (especially the first vice of the world), she teaches her daughter a fatal and final lesson.
A landlord whose origins itself are in doubt is about to witness perennial incest among his own family.
Is it ‘honor’ among thieves or is it something else? A person suddenly doubts his neighbors after he embarks upon a trip with his family.
For some animals, it’s mostly an ‘upside-down’ world!
The biggest problem in the world today is FITA.
Karma has a strange way of getting back to us, right until our death!
People have always migrated to greener pastures – to achieve a better life, to escape persecution. But do the means always justify the ends?
‘Live and let others live’ seems kind of outdated. ‘Don’t mess with yourself and others’ seems to be the new mantra for living. The free time available with the vast majority of people, the ease in doing things, or outright greed – what exactly is responsible for this ‘messing with others’ attitude is not known? But yes, let us try not to mess with our lives, and try not messing with others’ lives too! Be safe and happy.
