FOR FANS OF Band of Brothers, Unbroken, AND Beneath a Scarlet Sky
In the dead of night, Adirondack woodsman Johnnie Grey guides his U.S. ski troops up an ice cliff the Nazis deem unconquerable—a lone pillar shielding Germany’s Gothic Line. One slip means oblivion. One victory could rip the Gothic Line wide open, shattering Fortress Europe and liberating Italy.
His survival instincts, honed hunting through blizzards and the Great Depression to feed his family, are his truest weapon. His heart belongs to Ellie, the West Virginia farm girl who slips a silver St. Andrew’s Cross around his neck—a trail mark of love meant to guide him home.
Now, under a relentless “ring of fire” artillery barrage, Johnnie must gamble everything on a wild-honed, audacious strategy. The Tenth Trail Mark is a blazing tale of mountain warfare—and a love courageous enough to light even the darkest ascent.

Author Bio:
Joe Looby, author of The Tenth Trail Mark, draws on a lifetime of mountain adventures and a legacy of military service to craft compelling historical narratives. An avid outdoorsman, U.S. Navy veteran, and Eagle Scout, Joe’s work is profoundly inspired by his late father, Jim Looby, a 10th Mountain Division World War II veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Through The Tenth Trailmark, his company 10th Mountain Films, and acclaimed documentaries such as The Year of the Tiger: JFK 1962, Joe preserves history and brings it to life. He resides near Charleston, SC, with his family, but gets to Lake Placid, NY—a vital source of inspiration—as often as he can.
