The Unlived Lives Trilogy by William A Matthies
The Unlived Lives trilogy is a sweeping metaphysical journey through the multiverse, exploring the profound impact on the lives we live and the lives we would have lived had we made different choices.
Raymond Quinn believes he is a middle-aged man, alone and adrift in downtown Seattle. He meets a stranger at Other Worlds Coffee who tells him he has been dead for 46 years, killed in Vietnam. He is free to experience some of his unlived lives. The first is Shelly Bennett, initially a young girl, later a woman, whose life would soon be defined by the loss of Raymond. Seeking immortality, they experience multiple lives they would have lived together and with others had they made different choices.
The third installment, The Unlived Lives Reckoning (available spring 2026), culminates in a powerful exploration of sacrifice and service, not just for Raymond and Shelly but for all those who would have been part of their unlived lives.
Travel with Raymond and Shelly across Africa, Europe, Asia, North and South America, always returning to Other Worlds in search of immortality.
We all have an infinite number of lives we would have lived. Raymond, Shelly, and the others will lead you to yours.

Author Bio:
William Matthies served in the U.S. Army, spending 1968 in Vietnam with the First Cavalry Division. After his service, he graduated from college, married, raised two sons, and eventually found his true calling as a serial entrepreneur.
His most recent venture was teaching the art and science of change management to organizations and individuals. His book, The 7 Keys to Change, is based on several years of research on managing both personal and professional change.
Pushing the envelope is second nature to Matthies. At 13, he and a friend embarked on what most any 13-year-old boy would consider an adventure; a parent-free voyage to Catalina Island off the California coast. Their goal: fun. The result: a lifetime ban from the island.
However, that did not stop Matthies from visiting another island many years later, when he spent three weeks cycling from Santiago de Cuba to Havana.
Matthies continues to seek experiences to broaden his perspective, including a Mach 2.5 flight in a MiG 25 Foxbat supersonic Russian fighter departing from Zhukovsky Air Base outside Moscow to 80,000 feet, the edge of space.
He plays guitar in his spare time, maintaining absolute beginner status for more than three decades. He regularly works out, writes daily, and enjoys being Papaoomowmow to his four grandchildren.
Matthies has yet to experience any of his unlived lives. However, time permitting, he expects to do so very soon.
